UPDATE: We exceeded our goal! Find out more here.
Have you heard of Giving Tuesday? I hadn’t until this year when I learned from our friends at Children’s Hospital that it’s the Tuesday immediately following Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
This Giving Tuesday, Nov. 28, Accunet Mortgage is matching all donations made to Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin up to a total of $25,000. The goal is to raise $50,000 to purchase webcams designed specifically for hospitals, so parents and families can see and interact with their baby in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) from anywhere at any time.
No one expects their baby to need the NICU, but when premature or critically ill newborns enter the NICU, they can spend weeks or even months in the hospital. This stressful time for a new family becomes even more difficult when parents aren’t able to be there every minute. It can feel impossible to leave their infant’s side, even for a short period. If you or someone you know has ever had a baby in the NICU, you know exactly what we’re talking about.
As you plan your holiday gift shopping, please consider a gift to people you will likely never meet – the parents and families of newborns whose lives have been turned completely upside down by their babies needing the extra special care of the NICU.
We’ll happily match your donation, dollar-for-dollar, up to a total of $25,000, but only if you donate on Giving Tuesday, Nov. 28. We’ll be posting and emailing the special “Double your donation” link early Tuesday morning.
You can also tune in to a special Facebook Live broadcast from inside the NICU at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday Nov. 28 and meet NICU doctors and staff, and a family who has already experienced the peace of mind the special NICU webcams provide as they participated in the program’s pilot phase.
